A decently roomy pub with a whiff of history, 1888. Downstairs bar with space to roll; upstairs there's a bar with all the choices, dining room, smaller bar room, and an outside balcony rather undersized but nice on the right day. How good are the staff? *Veeery*. Nothing is a problem. Upstairs food is nicely prepared, fresh and tasty. All in all, a royal pub indeed!

My friend and i both ordered rib eye fillet, cooked medium rare The meat was full of sinew and fat My friend only ate his because he was so hungry I left a lot of mine and asked the waiter to show it to the chef He did, and absolutely nothing was said or done No partial credit, nothing Disgraceful behaviour, if your food isn't up to standard, apologies and recompense should be expected I have been going to The Royal for 30 years and this is a disappointing end

To the Royal hotel F&B staff. I’m sure if you check your best sellers you would have seen your Southern Fried Chicken burger was pretty high up there. As a local I have to say why replace it with a dry bland wanna be hybrid? Katsu really? Everyone does a fake wagu burger and we all put up with the misinformation in what wagu really is, but if the burger works we turn a blind eye. Your “Cardboard Katsu” should be well avoided by anyone who is up for a half decent burger. Dry unimaginative, and definitely not what it purports to be! Take a pass and go somewhere else I say! There are multiple pubs with a decent burger close by!

We celebrated Melbourne Cup here yesterday and were overwhelmed with the quality of the food, drink and service. Oysters, sashimi, prawns, patisserie, overflowing ‘real’ Champagne and a variety of generous cocktails such as Aperol Spritz or Malfy G&Ts, brought straight to you, never an empty glass in hand, live band, dancing. Finally, a venue that nailed it!

Had bottomless brunch as a group - the food was amazing. Generous portions, good flavours. Decor was lovely. Drinks were good, service was friendly. Able to accommodate my guest with dietary restrictions. Would definitely visit again.

We had the Long Lunch on the balcony which was a little cosy but lovely in the sunshine, overlooking the terrace houses and trees of Paddington. Food was plentiful and sensational and our server, Lidia was super helpful and friendly. We'll be back !
